The medical term for loss of periods or having irregular periods is ‘Amenorrhea’. Women who have irregular periods wonder about its cause. Normally menstrual cycle occurs every 28 to 30 days. However, some small changes in your routine life can affect the menstrual cycle and cause irregular periods.

If a woman is pregnant, periods will not come till she gives birth. So when you do not have periods for long, check out whether you are pregnant if you have recently had unprotected sex with your partner. Hormonal imbalance can also cause late ovulation that leads to delayed periods.
