Hysteria is a mental disorder. The symptoms are losing control of one’s emotions and actions. A person with such mental condition reacts violently due to fear, anger, hatred, frustration, anxiety, tension, and depression. Hysteria is observed as common mental and nervous disorder suffered by many people.

The exact cause hysteria is not yet certain – hysteria can occur in adults as well as children. Issues like loss of dear ones, loss of job, loss of property, etc. can lead a person to behave strangely and violently.

The person who behaves hysterically may have rapid heartbeat, respiratory problems, redness in the eye, veins bulging on the area of the neck, and shivering body. In extreme cases, some people may feel numbness on the limbs and lose the ability to think and speak properly.

Diet plays a major role in such mental disorders. Alcohol and smoking can cause a person to behave hysterically. A person suffering from hysteria should avoid alcohol, smoking, intake of coffee, tea, chocolates, dry fruits, and spicy and hot foods. Include plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits especially that are rich in water are good in treating hysteric condition.

 

Drink plenty of water daily. Do regular exercises, yoga and meditation that help in balancing the mind and the body. Simple breathing exercise is also an excellent remedy for reducing stress and anxiety. There are some Ayurvedic plants to help you in fighting against hysteria.

Brahmi: This herb is used for repairing the damage caused on the brain and nervous system. It is one of the most important nervine herb used in ayurvedic medicine. It has a wide reputation in improving mental functions. It is capable for soothing and calming the mind. Brahmi helps in treating stress, anxiety, and depression. It also helps in giving good sleep.

Ashwagandha: This herb is a good mood enhancer. It has anti-depressant property that helps in balancing the mind. It reduces stress, anxiety, and tension. It helps in improving the blood circulation in the body.

Holy basil: Add its leaves in boiling water and inhale it for reducing stress, anxiety, depression and hysteria. It also enhances the clarity of thought and improves memory.

Shankhapushpi: Intake of three grams of Shankhapushpi, Brahmi and Vacha powders in equal quantities can cure hysteria. It takes care of all nervous disorders. It is also a good brain tonic.

Jatamansi: This herb is very effective in treating hysteria and other neurological disorders. It treats emotional problems like stress, anxiety, and depression. It enhances memory. It also takes care of headache caused due to stress and anxiety

Asafetida: It has proved to cure hysteria. Take half to one gram of Asafetida orally or you can mix two gram of Asafetida in 150 ml of water and drink this to get rid of mental imbalances like hysteria.

If you are suffering from hysteria for prolonged period, you should consult an ayurvedic practitioner to rule out the exact cause and the medication required to treat it. Also confirm with the practitioner whether any of the above Ayurvedic plants can cause you allergies. Proper diet, regular exercise, yoga, meditation, and positive thinking and attitude are also recommended by Ayurveda to treat hysteria.

Can Ayurvedic Plants help in curing epilepsy? Epilepsy, also known as fits or seizures is a chronic neurological disorder. The brain starts functioning abnormally due to the central nervous system disorder. Children and older people are the ones who get mostly affected by epilepsy. However, it can occur at any age.

In Ayurveda, epilepsy is termed as ‘apasmara’ or ‘aparmaram’. Ayurveda believes that epilepsy is caused due to imbalance of the three doshas called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Any aggravation in these three doshas can lead to epilepsy. Ayurvedic plants can help in the cure of epilepsy.

It helps in treating stress, anxiety, tension, and depression which can cause epilepsy. It is also known for treating Alzheimer’s disease.

Aloe Vera: This herb is traditionally used for healing wounds, cuts, sunburns, and many skin disorders. It is very effective medicine for all skin problems. Apart from its traditional use, it is also helpful in treating epilepsy and other nervous disorders. The juice of Aloe Vera can be taken orally for treating epilepsy.

Ashwagandha: This herb works positively on the central nervous system. It is useful in treating mental disorders like stress, anxiety, and depression. It helps in having normal ageing and treats neurological conditions like epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Shankhapushpi: This herb is used as brain tonic. It improves memory and treats emotional imbalance, nervous debility, fatigue, insomnia. You can take two grams of shankhapushpi juice along with honey to treat epilepsy.

Valerian: This herb is very useful in treating epilepsy. However, overdose of this herb can cause certain side effects. It soothes the brain and promotes sleep.

Jatamansi: This herb is very effective in treating stress, anxiety and promotes sleep. It helps in enhancing memory and treats mental imbalances. It is also effective in treating hysteria and epilepsy.

Vacha: Known as ‘sweet flag’, it helps in enhancing memory. It is very effective in treating epilepsy.

Though the above Ayurvedic plants are good and safe to use, overdose of some can cause certain serious health disorders. Therefore, it is very important to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to know the exact doses of these Ayurvedic plants to be taken to cure epilepsy.
