High blood sugar or diabetes is a health disorder. In this health condition, the body is not able to make enough insulin, or cannot respond to insulin, or distribute it well in the body. Glucose is required for the cells to provide energy to the body. In case of diabetic patient, due to the absence of insulin, glucose cannot be absorbed in the cells and as a result it remains in the blood causing high glucose in the blood.

Over time, the high level of glucose in the blood can cause other serious health disorders like cardiovascular diseases, kidney disease, and blindness, damage to blood vessels, stroke, and eventually death. There are two types of diabetes such as type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes usually affects children and teenagers. In this case, pancreas stops making insulin due to its damage caused by the body’s immune system.

Type 2 diabetes is usually found in the people after the age of 30. Here the health disorder is due to poor lifestyle, obesity, advancing age, and heredity. In case of type 2 diabetes, though the body produces enough insulin, it cannot process it adequately. Intake of excessive sugar and lack of exercise can cause type 2 diabetes, even in children.

People with high blood sugar show the symptoms like low energy, dizziness, increase in thirst, hunger pangs even after having food, urge for frequent urination, sudden change in the weight, low healing process on wounds and cuts, vaginal infection, and impotence. If you feel these signs, you should immediately consult a doctor and do a blood sugar test that will diagnose whether you are pre-diabetic or a diabetic patient.

There are some Ayurvedic plants and natural home remedies that will help to reduce high blood sugar levels.

Ashwagandha: This herb is used to treat diabetes. It helps in reducing the level of sugar in the blood very effectively. It is also beneficial in treating hyperglycemic (low sugar) condition.

Neem: This herb has been scientifically proven to cure diabetes. Its leaf extracts help to reduce the blood sugar levels and it also improves the blood circulation by dilating the blood vessels.

Turmeric: This is useful in treating diabetes. Regular intake of turmeric can reduce the level of sugar in the blood. It is more effective when it is taken with amla.

Fenugreek: This is a wonderful herb that reduces the level of blood sugar very effectively. It helps in bringing the sugar out through urine.

Bitter gourd: This vegetable is very useful in curing diabetes. Its seeds help in reducing the blood sugar levels.

Ayurvedic plants are beneficial in treating diabetes without any harmful side effects. If these Ayurvedic plants are taken regularly, they can reduce high blood sugar levels in the blood. Include plenty of garlic, onions, turmeric, and sprouts in your diet to lower any high blood sugar levels. Also, it is very important to do exercise and walk an hour regularly. Also include yoga and meditation to lead a stress-free life.

The tonsils are located at the back of the throat on each side. They are lymph nodes that fight against harmful micro-organisms that could otherwise affect the body. Though tonsils help you to prevent from falling sick frequently, however, sometimes they get affected by bacteria and viruses, and become inflamed causing tonsillitis.

Tonsillitis is a common ailment; children are especially prone to this throat problem. Usually the throat is affected by dust and from over-crowded places. Mild tonsillitis can be cured within few days by medicines and proper care. Chronic tonsillitis can accompany fever, headache, chill, sore throat, and pain while swallowing food, a change or loss of voice, nasal congestion, enlarged and inflamed tonsils. There are some Ayurvedic herbs and remedies for the treatment of tonsillitis.

Holy basil: Prepare a decoction of holy basil and water. You can drink this water as well as use it to gargle. This will give relief from sore throat, cold, and fever. You can also boil a cup of milk and add holy basil and turmeric. Drink this warm to get relief from throat infections. Alternatively, you can chew some leaves five to six times a day to get relief.

Fenugreek seeds: Gargling with fenugreek water is one of the most effective Ayurvedic home remedy to treat tonsillitis. Boil one liter of water and add two or three tablespoon of fenugreek. When it cools, use this water to gargle. It gives relief to the throat.

Lime: It is good for throat problems. In a glass of warm water add fresh lime juice, honey, and a pinch of salt. This is very effective Ayurvedic home remedy for treating tonsillitis. For better results, drink this lime juice slowly; do not gulp it down at one go.

Milk: It is used for the treatment of tonsillitis and other throat infections. Boil a glass of milk and add a pinch of turmeric and pepper, and drink this hot before bed time. It gives relief from tonsillitis pain.

Simple gargling with warm water and salt, three to four times a day, gives relief from throat pain and infections.

These are common Ayurvedic home remedies for the treatment of tonsillitis. It is very safe to use these remedies and get immediate relief from pain if used in the proper manner. However, if you feel the pain persisting or worsening the condition of tonsillitis, you should consult an Ayurvedic practitioner immediately. Some serious cases of tonsillitis would require the tonsil to be taken out surgically.

There are certain factors that make your skin dull. The problem can worsen with acne and dark pigmentation. If you are really bothered about your skin, then the instructions below should be followed at home before you decide to take a trip to a cosmetologist for help.

1. Drink eight glasses of water daily. Dehydration can make your skin dull and wrinkles appear faster. The more you drink water, the better it will be for your skin.

2. Eat nutritious food and have proper diet.

3. Avoid spicy, oily, and fatty food.

4. Avoid long and direct exposure to sun. The UV rays of the sun can cause your skin to look darker and duller.

# Mix a paste of sandalwood, Fuller’s Earth, and chickpea flour, and then apply it on your face. Wash it off after it dries. You will surely notice the difference.

# Saffron is a good skin cleanser and acts effectively on pimples. Mix a few strands of saffron in a cup of raw milk and leave it overnight. Next morning, apply this mixture on your skin and wash it off after an hour.

According to Ayurveda, the major cause of bronchitis is improper digestion and mental disturbances. However, modern science considers bronchitis as a health disorder caused due to viral attack on the bronchial tubes. It is a respiratory infection that causes swelling in the bronchial tubes.

Bronchitis can be acute or chronic – acute bronchitis lasts only for a few days and can be cured within one or two weeks. It is caused due to bacterial or viral infection like influenza. This can be healed faster or prevented with the help of Ayurvedic herbs.

However, chronic bronchitis persists for longer period. It is caused due to inflammation of the lungs. This inflammation results from excess intake of sweets, bananas, refined flour, preserved or fast food, milk, other dairy products, alcohol, smoking, and inhaling fumes or polluted air. If chronic bronchitis is left untreated, it can cause serious ailments such as heart enlargement and other heart related problems, asthma, damage to the lungs and bronchial tubes, frequent cough and cold, wheezing, fever, dust allergy, sore throat, chest pain, breathing problems, mucus membrane, excess discharge of phlegm, swelling in the legs and feet, loss of weight, and pneumonia.

You should include fresh fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants in the diet to improve the functioning of the lungs. You can also try some of the Ayurvedic herbs and home remedies to cure bronchitis.

Holy Basil: This herb is used in Ayurvedic treatments to prevent and cure bronchitis. Chew few leaves along with black pepper and honey. This helps to extract phlegm. A decoction of this herb is very effective in curing fever and cough that accompany bronchitis.

Chicory: The dry root should be first powdered; then one teaspoon of honey should be added to it and consumed thrice daily for a week. This is very effective in curing chronic bronchitis.

Ginger: Mix half a teaspoon each of ginger, pepper, honey, and clove. Consume this thrice a day. This mixture acts as an anti-pyretic and clears the respiratory tract.

Turmeric: Mix one teaspoon of fresh turmeric powder in a glass of milk and consume it thrice daily. It is very effective in curing respiratory tract problems including bronchitis.

Onion: It has expectorant properties that can cure respiratory tract infections. The juice of raw onion along with honey can be consumed.
